Wedding Cake Trends 2010

This is a quick pic from last week's wedding. Yum. I have noticed a popular trend this summer. I do like it. The cake is the focal point, and the flowers are secondary. Thank goodness we are moving away from the trend of having a major cascade of flowers flowing down the cake. Never cared for that. I wouldn't want to eat the piece that is poked a million times with rose stems. Yuck! This look is soft and elegant. Let the cake speak for itself. Better yet, let the taste of the cake speak for itself. Wedding cake by Indulge Bakery.

Wedding Cake of the Week

I love this cake by Shamane's Bake Shoppe. Subtle, yet elegant. Once again we see a natural theme, a bit Zen as well! Remember to visit us at The Boulder Wedding Showcase tomorrow, Sunday January 25th at The Rembrandt Yard in Boulder.

Wedding Cakes. Let them eat cake!

So I have decided to post a cake of the week every Friday. What a great way to start the weekend. This cake is by Shamane's Bake Shoppe. Located just next door to me. She is Boulder's very own "ACE OF CAKES." Check out her website to view her repetoure. Not only does she design wedding cakes, but she offers lunch, coffees and other hot drinks. Yesterday they were baking chocolate chip cookies. It was killing me!
This cake is yet another example of 2009's wedding trends. Nature and specifically, butterflies.

Wedding Cakes

Take a peak at Sylvia Weinstock's new book Sensational Cakes. Her masterpieces are truly inspirational. I can't help but notice a common thread of nature adorning her cakes. Colorful butterflies and honeybees are also showing up in bouquets, centerpieces and invitations this year.
