Spring Flowers Painted Primrose

It's springtime in the Rockies and I love the gorgeous flowers that have come into bloom! These are from Steven's & Son located just west of Denver. My drive to and from the market is filled with views of horse property. I love that. My favorites spring flowers are lavender hyacinth. I wait all year for those! I always have a small vase of hyacinth sitting in our guest bedroom. It's just OMG.

Natasha Richardson

A humble tribute to an amazingly talented actress. We entitled this one "Natasha." I thought she might like the beautiful sweet peas, softly scented hyacinth, and pale peach spray roses. Thank you for the footprints you left on this earth. We will all miss you.

Catering by Design

Last night I had the pleasure of sampling some amazing food from Denver's very own Catering by Design. I had a lovely chat with Ingrid Nagy part of the husband and wife team who own the catering company. The food was delicious! The potato bar was a great interactive affair. All of the food servers were really pleasant and they made certain that no one left hungry. One thing that I really like about the new trend of catering is that you don't have to provide a sit-down plated dinner for your wedding. You can walk from station to station, mingle, pick and choose and have it your way! Thanks Ingrid, it was great! www.www.cateringbd.com

Wedding Trends 2009, Tuscan styled floral centerpiece www.paintedprimrose.com

I am seeing an unexpected trend for 2009. Tuscan style! I designed this arrangement for a wedding in January using an antique silver gravy bowl that I found at a local flea market. I added fresh fruit, hydrangeas, ranunculus, stock, hanging amaranth, mini callas and my favorite Eufloria roses. The photo has found it's way through google image search and has brought so many visitors to my wedding blog. All of them are looking for examples of Tuscan styled centerpieces for their weddings! Not just here in Colorado, but in Europe and beyond. So there you have it, a new wedding trend for 2009!

Pink Roses www.paintedprimrose.com

I am so in love with this variety of soft, pale pink rose "sweet avalanche." I think they would be perfect for a shabby chic wedding. I stumbled upon them at the denver market yesterday. They open beautifully. They have a slight fragrance, little bruising, large head and not many thorns. This week's fave!

Cebolla Fine Flowers

Today's inspiration comes from Cebolla Fine Flowers, Dallas Texas. I am such a fan of roses. Pale roses are my favorite. This is an example of the less is more theory. Monochromatic for impact! I once had a professor in art school, who always said "If you can't make it good, make it yellow!" Well, this is better than good, and it's the perfect shade of pink! www.cebollafineflowers.com

podesta baldocchi san fransisco

I am always on the hunt for great flower shops. Podesta Baldocchi happens to be one of my very favorites. I recently stopped by their shop when I was visiting the San Fransisco Flower Market. They have an amazing location, they are within walking distance from the flower market itself. I can't even imagine the luxury of running next door to pick up a bunch of something wonderful! Heavy sigh... Enjoy their website and be inspired! www.podestabaldocchi.com

Wedding Flowers 2009

I love this elegant and romantic look for the ceremony aisle! The pillar and floating candles are a nice touch to the standard scattering of rose petals. Big impact for not a lot of $$$. Also try scattering the petals into a pattern, perhaps the shape of the bride & groom's initials, a serpentine pattern or even hearts. Be inspired at www.hiddengardenflowers.com.

Organic Flowers

Just found an organic flower grower, Le Mera Gardens, located in Oregon. Their product is absolutely beautiful. Check out their website www.lemeragardens.com. View their fabulous gallery of flowers. I like that they list their availability as well. Wow, I would love a grower like this in Colorado. If you live near them or in Northern California buy their product. We need to keep domestic growers alive, especially organic. It's good for the economy and healthier for your florist:)
