Rainbow Roses a Love, Love Relationship

Ok, so if you have never seen a "Rainbow Rose" take a peak. I happen to love them. You might also call them "Tie Die Roses." They are quite a novelty. Each petal is a different color. Someone, somewhere has figured out way to inject colored dye into the rose stems which in turn, creates this amazing look. Some designers hate them, I love them. I believe there is a customer for everything and a time and place as well. Yesterday, I sent out a bouquet filled with gerbera daisies and rainbow roses to a little girl battling cancer. I am sure they added sunshine to her day.

Denver Botanic Gardens

Today I visited The Denver Botanic Gardens. I have delivered many wedding flowers to their York Street location, but today was the first time that I actually strolled thru the beautiful garden displays at my leisure. My favorite gardens were Asian themed. Having studied Ikebana and Japanese Tea Ceremony in college, I am always attracted to anything Asian. Oh, and the new gift shop opened just yesterday. It was fabulous. I purchased a box of Asian inspired match sticks, complete with a lovely illustration of a Geisha. It really is an amazing place to have a wedding ceremony. www.botanicgardens.org.

Baby Shower Flower Arrangements

I wanted to share this photo of a baby shower table centerpiece that I designed recently. The white oriental lily is locally grown. It makes quite a spectacular show. We are at the end of hyacinth season, lucky enough to sneak one it. Enjoy.

Wedding flower trends 2009

I designed a beautiful wedding for a lovely bride at The Hotel Boulderado two weeks ago. The bridal bouquet was filled with burgundy dahlias, chocolate cosmos, red freedom roses and uluhe curls. This summer I am seeing a trend of bouquets filled with rich dark colors. Chocolate cosmos and burgundy dahlias are a common theme. These wedding flowers were a nice compliment to the Victorian atmosphere of one of Boulder's most historic hotels.

Hello dear followers, I haven't had much time to post new blogs as I am smack dab in the middle of wedding season. Although I am anxiously awaiting photographs from my wedding photographers. Will share soon. In the meantime, enjoy this arrangement of the week using peach Eufloria roses, green hydrangea, tropical orchids and locally grown oriental lilies. Yum.

The red rose boutonnieres that Michael Jackson's brothers wore at the memorial today are called "Freedom" roses, named after Rosa Parks.
