Amanda and Chris Got Hitched!

Our very first wedding of the season, roses and peonies, ooh, lala! The ceremony and reception both took place at Longmont's Lone Hawk Farm. We decorated the wooden gazebo with the last of the season's cherry blossoms. We hung wire bird cages, filled with flowers and hanging foliage from the surrounding trees. Tables were adorned with antique ball jars spilling with wide opening peonies and silvery dusty miller. Shamane baked the fab cupcakes. A lovely day indeed.

a party for a princess, a lucky one at that.

oh my, i have been so busy designing for this weekend's princess party. it was honestly a party fit for a king, complete with a castle, suits of armor, glass slippers, and an abundance of tiaras. (if i had the guts to take on a tattoo, it would be a tiara, a grand one at that.) it was lovely fun. my favorite wedding and event planner, nicole mulvany from rsvp shindig called me up on this one. when nicole calls, expect grand.

the house was bedecked inside and out. uplit outside with pink lights. never too much pink. i decorated the front door with floral tiaras, the tables with 6" squares of heavenly eufloria roses, cabbage, hydrangea and lisianthus, topped off with what else, tiaras. i even decorated the glass slippers with flowers. yum.

dave barnes from scenographics denver created the incredible fairytale castle, royal pendants, and the suits of armour complete with pink plumage.

food was provided by the fabulous whirled peas catering co. they also sculpted a castle made from bread, baquettes and waffle cones. (which the family dog guarded with her life.)

it truly was a masterpiece of a party.

Boulder Wedding Showcase

I love attending bridal shows. It's a wonderful way to meet oodles of brides, all at the same time, all at the same location. I also like seeing all the local wedding vendors under one roof. This shot is of my entry into the fantasy table decorating contest at Rembrandt Yard. You can check out more photos at http://www.rembrandtyard.com/painted.html. Thanks Rembrandt Yard ladies for an amazing show. Wedding season has begun!

autumnal wedding

I love fall. It enters my world overnight. One morning I wake up and its a balmy 80 degrees, the next, a frigid 50. I see changes at the flower market as well. Bright, bold summery colors have been replaced by burgundy, burnt orange and umber. Bittersweet has arrived from the east coast and luscious hydrangeas from the west. I also see big changes in wedding color schemes. Gone are the sunflowers, bright orange zinnias and hot pink celosia. I welcome the locally grown dahlias, leucadendron and orange ranunculus. Change is good, bring it on.

Sandra Bullock Bouquet

So, according to www.tmz.com, this bouquet of flowers was recently delivered to Sandra Bullock. I think it rather symbolic that there are white roses in the bouquet... a white rose suggest purity and and silence. Also, white has always expressed qualities beyond the physical-love beyond the body, love of the soul. In Asian tradition, white stands for the ultimate absence, death. Hhmmm, no further comment.

Happy Valentine's Day to Everyone.

Today is February 15th. A single day post Valentine's Day. Love was certainly in the air yesterday. Young love, new love and even mature love, we saw it all. It warms my heart. The traditional dozen red roses were popular as well as balloons, chocolate and teddy bears. What a great holiday all in the name of love.

Wedding Roses

By now all of you must know that I am a huge fan of Eurfloria roses, so when I walked by these roses at the Denver flower market yesterday I stopped dead in my tracks. I just had to take a pic of these dreamy flowers and a sniff. This is like sherbet ice cream to me, no maybe Italian gelato!

It's dark, cold and rainy in boulder today so i thought it appropriate to add my own bit of sunshine. Randomly chosen, all fresh, all filled with heart.

Graduation Flowers

This past weekend, my daughter graduated from High School! I thought my tears would flow throughout the entire ceremony, but I did fine. I am so proud of her. She aspires to be a Chemical Engineer. I am such a lucky parent.

Aside from her graduation, I was very busy designing and delivering flowers to other graduation parties. Take a peak at this awesome centerpiece. It is a three-sided foam core base with a glass vase tucked inside. Black and white photos adorn each side. Nostalgic and modern at the same time.

Spring Flowers Painted Primrose

It's springtime in the Rockies and I love the gorgeous flowers that have come into bloom! These are from Steven's & Son located just west of Denver. My drive to and from the market is filled with views of horse property. I love that. My favorites spring flowers are lavender hyacinth. I wait all year for those! I always have a small vase of hyacinth sitting in our guest bedroom. It's just OMG.

Happy Holidays!

I didn't get a chance to post yesterday! We cooked dinner for 25 wonderful guests. We laughed, took pictures, opened presents, ate, laughed and ate some more. I love Christmas! Today I am back at the studio designing again. Sad to see Christmas over, but we still have New Years. I think I will add a bit of sparkle glitter to every arrangement that goes out this week. Best wishes.

corporate floral arrangements

Just wanted to share a photo of a beautiful tropical arrangement. I love designing for my corporate clients. By looking at it you wouldn't know that it is 20 degrees outside today. Dreamin' of the ocean, soft, warm breeze, touch of salt in the air.
