Thompson House Inn

I have a great idea for Bridal Wedding Showers. Treat yourself and your bridesmaids to high tea at The Thompson House Inn & Tea Room in Longmont Colorado. Cee and her ladies will treat you like a Queen. I love the warmed towels spritzed with rose water. The Thompson House is also a bed & breakfast, a wonderful place for out-of-towners to stay for your destination wedding. They will also be serving a lovely tea on Valentine's Day but make sure to book reservations early! Call Cee at 303-651-1121. www.thompsonhouseinn.com

Wedding Bouquets

I had a fabulous time at the Boulder Theater and Rembrandt Yard wedding show yesterday, in spite of the show and freezing temperatures. Thanks to all the wonderful brides who attended. Wanted to share a couple of pictures. Oh yes, I tasted amazing food from Front Range Catering the shrimp was so delicious! Sarah and Heidi from Rembrandt Yard were so hospitable to everyone as well. What a great venue.

Wedding Cake of the Week

I love this cake by Shamane's Bake Shoppe. Subtle, yet elegant. Once again we see a natural theme, a bit Zen as well! Remember to visit us at The Boulder Wedding Showcase tomorrow, Sunday January 25th at The Rembrandt Yard in Boulder.

Wedding Bouquets

This week's wedding bouquets! We are finally seeing spring flowers at the flowers markets. Lots of hyacinth, (lovely fragrance) tulips, ranunculus, anenomes, ornamental kale and more. Look for forsythia branches and blooming quince in white and pink. I love it!

Tuscan styled floral centerpiece

I wanted to share this fresh flower arrangement with you. I designed it for an upcoming wedding. I love the contrast of the green hydrangeas and the plums. Note the Eufloria Hypnose roses. A bit Italian. A bit nostalgic. Momma Mia.

Wedding Cakes. Let them eat cake!

So I have decided to post a cake of the week every Friday. What a great way to start the weekend. This cake is by Shamane's Bake Shoppe. Located just next door to me. She is Boulder's very own "ACE OF CAKES." Check out her website to view her repetoure. Not only does she design wedding cakes, but she offers lunch, coffees and other hot drinks. Yesterday they were baking chocolate chip cookies. It was killing me!
This cake is yet another example of 2009's wedding trends. Nature and specifically, butterflies.

T'DA Design

When I was hired to design flowers for this wedding at the Omni Interlocken Resort, I was met with a bit of a challenge. The ceremony for this wedding was to take place in a hallway in the lower level of the hotel. A HALLWAY! T'DAY Design provided the beautiful chuppa, stage, pipe & drape. The final result was very elegant. And it certainly transformed the hallway into a romantic ceremony site. RSVP Shindig was the event planner.

The Chateaux at Fox Meadow

Attended a wedding show at the Chateaux at Fox Meadows today. What a great turnout we had. I met some wonderful wedding vendors. I will post names and links this week. My theme was romantic, vintage and chic. I strung stock buds from Quince branches. Designed my large arrangement with locally grown Sorbonne lilies. I prefer them to stargazer lilies, as their scent is very light. I find that if you use several stargazer lilies in a wedding the scent can be too pungent. Brides really liked the submerged mini cymbidium orhchid centerpieces with floating candles. My next wedding show is at the Boulder Theater Sunday, January 25th. See you there!

Lollia Life

Today I was visiting Cee Dolence, inkeeper for The Thompson House Inn and Tearoom, and discovered wonderful gift ideas for bridal attendants. Lovely, romantic, shabby chic inspired toiletries from Lollia, a Colorado based company. I couldn't help but leave with a rich, beautifully fragrant hand lotion,"Imagine" described as "Flowering Willow & Lotus float in, then flutter away — a trace of Orchid on their wings. Breezy Rice Flower and warm Coconut Milk mix with dew drop notes of Mandarin & Jasmine petals. Not a cloud in sight: a sun dappled, sophisticated scent." Cee stocks shea butter lotions, soy blend candles, perfumes and much more. Stop by and sample a dab. Then take time for tea! www.thompsonhouse inn.com

Scented Candles

If you love roses as much as I do, you will be inspired by this gorgeous shop Au Nom de la Rose located in England and throughout Europe. I especially love the rose-themed gifts. I would love one of these candles to burn in my floral studio! The shop opened its first rose emporium in Paris in 1991. Romantic! To view their website please copy www.aunomdelarose.co.uk into your url bar. As it cannot translate correctly from my blog.

Take a peak at Sylvia Weinstock's new book Sensational Cakes. Her masterpieces are truly inspirational. I can't help but notice a common thread of nature adorning her cakes. Colorful butterflies and honeybees are also showing up in bouquets, centerpieces and invitations this year.

Wedding Flower Trends for 2009

Europe's Wedding Flowers magazine is predicting a lovely, romantic vintage look for weddings this year. Pretty and pastel is going to be the key. Garden roses, hygrangeas and peonies in antique shades of pink, purple and peach. I love it! I think I've died and gone to heaven! Pick up the latest copy of their wedding flower magazine now.
